Our Veterinary Team
Dr. Mary Suchowiecki
The Animal Medical Centre in New York City provided Dr. Mary Suchowiecki with a 13-month internship in small animal medicine and surgery after she graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. In 2001, she joined Just Cats.
She has a natural liking for cats and has won a prize for excellence in veterinary care for felines. She has also written for Cat Fancy magazine, which acknowledged her as an authority on all things feline.
She is passionate about three things; the Detroit Lions, her large patient and clientele base, and her family.
She is always loved back by two of the three.
Dr. Sasha Gibbons
A graduate of California’s Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine is Dr. Sasha Gibbons. Her original goal in attending veterinary school was to specialize in huge cats and exotic animals. She joined Just Cats in 2009 due to her passion for all things cat-related and the advantages of working with just cats.
Dr. Gibbons is an active participant in the Veterinary Information Network, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She is frequently consulted for her knowledge of felines, and her articles have been featured in a number of journals, such as Cat Fancy.
She presently resides in New York with her husband, six cats, a sizable collection of Hello Kitty, and a little closet.
Dr. Amanda Bemis
The St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine graduated Dr. Amanda Bemis. At the University of Illinois, she finished her year of clinical training. She became well-known at veterinary school as “the cat person” due to her long involvement in cat rescues.
In addition to being a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and The Veterinary Information Network, Dr. Bemis joined Just Cats in 2020. She is from New Jersey and often spends time with her two cats, Noodle and Charlie, as well as her family.
She frequently spends her leisure time in the kitchen preparing something. Her amazing baking abilities are attested to by our personnel, who get to sample her cookies.
Dr. Valerie Paris
Originally from Rochester, NY, Dr. Paris has long been involved in animal welfare and currently serves as Chair of the Grant Writing Committee for Pet Adoption Network, where she has volunteered for many years. She has also participated in international service trips with Christian Veterinary Mission in Honduras and hopes to continue that work in the future.
Dr. Paris is a proud member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the Veterinary Information Network (VIN), where she remains committed to ongoing learning and collaboration with peers.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, cooking, being active in her church community, and caring for her ever-growing collection of houseplants. At home, she shares her life with two cherished cats. Dr. Paris is thrilled to be part of the Just Cats team and is grateful for the mentorship and camaraderie she’s found within the EverVet network.
Dr. Diana Chang
Dr. Chang is a 2005 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and has been proudly serving pets and their families in Fairfield County for the past 19 years. Veterinary medicine has been her calling since the age of 17, and her passion for caring for animals—of all shapes and sizes—has only grown over time. Throughout her career, Dr. Chang has cared for dogs, cats, exotic species, and even the occasional “adopted” farm animal.
Cats hold a special place in Dr. Chang’s heart. Her very first pet—a cat—taught her the meaning of unconditional love and acceptance, shaping both her life and her career. She remains deeply committed to preserving the powerful human–animal bond, believing that the love and respect shared between pets and their people helps make the world a more compassionate place.
A devoted mom and lifelong cat lover, Dr. Chang shares her home with her cat, Kate Pepper Olive—affectionately called “K-Pop.” Her commitment to animal welfare extends beyond her practice through hands-on work with DAWS, PAWS, and community trap-and-release and spay/neuter programs that help protect and care for feral cats.
In her spare time, Dr. Chang enjoys spending time with her daughter, crocheting, reading, and being outdoors—especially visiting beaches and exploring local hiking trails.
